Default Need help asap Code 54 Crank Fluctuation Sensor question

My sister is trying to pass emissions but the guy won't pass it because of the check engine light. She's throwing a code 54 crank fluctuation sensor. How can I fix this problem?

I just put a B16A2 oil pump onto a B16A motor for the purpose of installing the crank function sensor. The sensor is brand new as is the oil pump and I am still getting the code 54. Any one have any ideas.

Hey sorry about the wrong forum, I was just searching and it popped up. No I did not change the timing belt gear. I am now assuming thats where my problem lies as there is nothing for the magnetic sensor to pick up on.

Crank fluctuation is usually connected to a small cylinder misfire. Something as simple as carbon'd up or old plugs can cause it. The next possibility is problems with the ignitor or dizzy problems in general. Basically check out your ignition system as a whole.

The next possibility is that the crank fluc sensor has a problem in itself. Check your wiring and the sensor itself. Helm's has simple test procedures for the sensor which you can follow in flowchart format.
