Honda blocks weren't made with boost in mind. You can run a bit o' boost and be ok, but the cylinder walls flex. Thats a bad thing. ECU freaks when you get boost too.

You will get this 1million times, its all in the tune. Upgrade your ECU to compensate for boost and keep it low (less than 8) and you would most likely not run into too many problems. With everything in life, to do it right requries time/money/effort and knowlege.

Of course there will be replies about how their stock block has taken 10psi and 7k rpms every day for the last 7 1/2 years with 300,000mi on it and it runs better than when it was brand new.

OH and this belongs in the FI section

Research research research.... read read read.... learn learn learn....

This question has been asked hundreds of times.

You will be able to answer your own question if you take some time to learn a bit.

You don't have to build your block to boost it... depending on the amount of boost.

The Y5/Y8 swap is fairly difficult, as there is a lot of **** involved. Personally I would just do a straight Y8 swap.

I am a little curious. I don't plan on swapping but I was had before. What makes it so difficult?

I know it's not what you asked, but whats wrong with the y5? IMO the y8 doesn't have near enough advantages to swap.

I wondered the same thing. The only thing I can think of is 13hp that the Y8 offers and maybe the mileage....the Y5 is quite the engine with boost. I can't wait to get mine boosted again..one more week

One more week here too. T25 in the mail. Old one blew. With a crappy t25 setup on my y5 I was able to hold up in a straightline against an s2k. That was untuned with no intercooler though, will probably be able to pull a bit after tuning and now that I have my IC. Plus I can outhandle the s2k easily :-D

So to the original poster, I say keep the y5.
