Default Transmission Selection. D-Series Transmission gearing. Which is best for acceleration.

Alright I have a 97 civic DX Hatch. I'm going to do a lot of motor work and stuff and I want to change the transmission. I know the DX transmission has real long gears and I wanted something that would be a better for acceleration. What D-series transmissions would be the best for acceleration. I was thinking of getting one from a 00 civic ex coupe. Any other suggestions or pro's and con's of each transmission. Thanks for the help it is greatly appreciated.

96-00 EX coupe if you want a factory transmission. Mistabone had a link in his signature to some crazy custom tranny that he built, but if you are asking this question, you probally aren't up to build your own.

EDIT: Pros for this tranny
Tightest gearing of any factory D series transmission.

Cons:
Still has long *** gears.

ok, not trying to be a dick, but use the search button, this has been covered more than a thousand times

just pulled those up real quick, hope that helps

P.S. z6 has beefy aluminum forks that are prone to cracking and breaking, the y8 tranny has steel forks, but they are thin steel with no structural support so the bend, i know, ive bent some, but never broke em.

For acceleration, the best stock tranny is the Y8 IMO.

I say the best D series tranny as far ad performance and acceleration would be the jdm D15B VTEC tranny with Factory LSD. They are hard to come by and and lil pricey but well worth it. Probably cost ya $400. I got me one.

i just rebuilt my ex tranny cuz i had the input shaft bearing go out on me. so i got an lx tranny to throw in so i could still drive. after having an ex tranny and go ing to the lx i hated it. first gear went to like 45 and second all the way out to 70. the 4th-5th were about the same, but it was slow as ***** to get there.

nowi swapped and have a b16 trans on my b20 but im gonna have to do something about that 5th
