Best tranny for D16 turbo?
the stock tranny is fine
there is no honda SOHC transmission with LSD that will work (that im aware of)
Quaife makes one for the d16z6 motor but its pricey, 895$ list price. most people will say its well worth it.

There was an older d15 I believe, that came with LSD stock. I do not remember specifics, but you can search the source that I read it at: http://pub143.ezboard.com/bhondadseries

for turbo i would go no less then 92-00 sohc vtec trannies. these trannies are no better then LS trannies gear wise and we all know how wack those are (unless you are pushing major boost that 'longer is better for boost' doesnt really mean much,)

if the dx tranny, will it slow down my spool time or what?

Just switch from dx tranny to ex tranny on my turbo d16z6 and it made the world of diffence, probably the best thing I have done for my car in a long time. 2nd gear would bog till the turbo spooled, now its instant pull in second gear and 3rd gear pulls soooo much stronger!

Very hard to find though. I saw one for $800 on dseries.org less than a month ago.
sorry to wake this thread up, but I was wondering about the 96+ HX trannys. they have the big bearing case. But they have longer gears than then ex tranny because the hx was made for MPG. But when your boosting, longer gears are better, aren't they? Stay in boost longer. correct me if im wrong.
I have a 98 ex running 10lbs. My bearing my tranny is getting really bad. I do have a loner HX that i could swap trannys. But any feed back would be nice. I just don't think the longer gears would really be a plus for me, because its not like the ex gears are that short.

stop bandwagoning this kid, the oem d15 lsd is not good, internals arent swapble with any other d series trannies, and they're weak as expletive
