Default OK to soak a turbocharger in solvent?

I have this used turbo. I removed the exhaust housing, but I don't want to disassemble the cartridge because the only local place wants $90 to balance it. I want to clean up the turbo before I install it.

My question: Is it okay if I soak the cartridge in solvent to loosen up the caked on dirt / grease? I've taken one apart before and all the parts were metal, so I don't see anything wrong with it, just trying to get a warning before I might mess anything up. Of course I would run oil through the turbo after cleaning it. Thanks.

if the solvent is strong enough it will eat up the seals inside the turbo........not good
