Default Need help on cleaning turbo

I had my turbo sitting on the workbench and I got some metal shavings inside the compressor housing (I was grinding something and didn't realize that it was getting dust on the turbo). How can I clean it out? Can I just wash it with water and then quickly dump some oil in it afterwawrds or should I just use some WD-40?

I don't want to take the turbo apart because one of the bolts holding the compressor on is stripped.

the best way would be to take the turbo apart even though that bolt is stripped you need to fix that anyway because it is going to fail at some point. Use brake parts cleaner and rags to clean it make sure you dont leave any of the strings that come off the rag behind either.

Good luck

not all of the little metal shavings will come out unless u take it apart and clean and clean and then when u finally think u have them all out, clean some more. at least that was my exp when i had piston shavings throughout my block and in the oil pump and on and on, ended up giving up and just buying new stuff. but mainly what im saying is do what syndicate43 said and take it apart. sorry about the ramble ive been painting for hours and now im really bored and kinda dizzy.
