Default shift linkage install question

I am getting ready to install the shift linking in my del Sol. Is there a particular method to getting the pin in where it connects to the tranny? Thanks guys.

just use whatever fits the diameter of the pin, you don't want to use something that fits inside due to the fact that it will expand the pin while trying to go in, which may be impossible to then push in. Just use a hammer and hit it in, its gonna have to be hit kinda hard, but don't use a sledge or slam the hell out of it. The punch really isn't need, but is needed for removal. I learned to use a longer pin then necessary so when i have to remove it later down the road, i use visegrips and clap on the extra length of the pin and whack the vice grip with a hammer (comes right out) <-- just something to maybe consider

The punch needs to be 8mm and non-tapered.

get a 5/16 roll pin punch. tape the pin to the punch. it will be better on the knuckles. thats the way i do it.

if u have an air hammer with the tapered driver that works a lot better than beating the **** out of the pin
