shift linkage pin (bitch pin) removal made easy!!
Im changing the trans in my friends (my old car i built in my sig) and last night i got stuck on the bitch pin (shift linkage pin). I tried punches and torx bit of the right size to push it out but it wouldnt work and we was at it for 30 min or more. So after church i came back to it and thought. I took my air chisel with punch bit, went from the bottom and pushed it 3/4 way out, then took a small punch to put up its (bitch pins) cylinder on the bottom of the pin (not in the middle of it) and knocked it the rest of the way out with a hammer and punch. 5 minutes..literally. I've changed a trany before but this is by far the easiest way i've found.
Thanks for looking

dont use a screw driver you will bend it and make it even harder on you.
best tool to use is 8mm punch
if you dont have that grab a drill bit and start out small and work your way up.
use the drill bit as a punch. i think the 1/4inch was the one i used

Screw driver and BFH has never failed me. Just got to get some room to swing. Air hammer is my backup.

I use an equal sized bolt so the threads provide the push. That + hammer = 10 second removal.

mine was always a bitch! once I got it out for the first time, I put the edge in a grinder and rounded it. It now slides easily in and out, with minimal force, the C-clip keeps it from falling out.

BFH and punches, I'm glad you guys don't work for me.
Brute force with a hammer will only damage the seals and bushings, if not crack the housing.
You should "press" it out.
Honda has a tool for it but it isn't hard to make one and avoid damage.
Excuse the bad drawings, but this is what you need,
Made of steel stock 3"x1-1/2"x1", drilled and uses a turned down bolt to push the pin out.

It just amazes me how many just reach for it before thinking it over a little and what other damage may be caused by using it.
I realize this tool is a little beyond the typical driveway mechanic, I was just offereing an alternative method to safely remove the pin.
My BFH sits on the anvil where it belongs.

1/4 inch extension and a hammer tap it to get it started then a bolt that fits inside the slot. then tap the bolt through pushing the bitch pin out. 2 minute deal at max, no need for a big *** hammer
