Default Is this happening to anyone else?

im getting 150 miles per tank
95 ls motor 120,000 miles
EG Hatch
GSR tranny
New plugs and wires / cap and rotors

In the morning while its cold it will show a cel after 3 min or so, 43. So what I have done is changed out the o2, checked for vacuum leaks and have found nothing. I used some injector cleaner and the gas mileage never got any better. This is without driving hard. The car does run rich, you can smell it.

Once I changed the o2 sensor the cel didn’t come on for about 3 days, then started again. I have swapped out the stock un-chipped ecu with a p28 just to see the mileage, and nothing different.

I have not checked the fuel pressure or compression yet. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong??

Please help!
Thanks,

yea sorry, forgot to mention that I changed the fuel filter aswell. The only thing that I haven’t swapped is the fuel pressure regulator.

Yea i think that will be my next step, but why do you think its allowing so much fuel in? I dont think this would have anything to do with it but it does have a GSR fuel pump.

150mi per tank? how much do you fill up with? divide distance traveled by gas used to get MPG (so you can effectively calculate mileage). should be in the mid 20s's for city, low 30's for highway if you don't drive it hard. don't forget to check things like tire pressure and airfilter

get your fuel pressure checked, if it's set to high (adj fpr) it'll dump to much fuel into your engine and cause crappy mileage and many other problems...

yea I have checked the gas mileage many a times and I am getting around 17 miles per gallon, that’s with a mix of highway and city, and that’s not driving hard at all. I have been very easy on it to see what I could get as far as gas goes. I fill up about 9.5 - 10 gallons.

tire pressure I haven’t checked, but this will be done this afternoon. I have swapped the air filter with a new one.

Thanks for all the suggestions, please keep them coming.

I just filled up my D16Z6 hatch with 250k+ miles on it and she got 310mile out of 8.67 gallons of 87 octane . That's more than 35 miles/gallon. Just thought I'd share .

lol, funny stuff.

ok here is the update.

Yesterday I changed out the plugs with ngk's. They were completely black, the car is running extremely rich.

I also swapped the fuel pressure regulator with another stock one. The car is still running rich.

And once again I swapped the fuel filter. Still the same results.

Today I am going to swap the injectors and get a fuel pressure gauge and fuel pressure regulator.

Are their any other suggestions as to what this could be?

The car is making an awful smell from running so rich.

its going to cost you more if you just start swapping out parts before you know what the problem is...

BTW.. my b18b is running rich with a chipped gsr computer.. and i did 215 miles on 6 gallons (35mpg) on the highway

your fuel line leaking?

yea your right about it costing alot, luckly i have a 92 si that I have been swapping parts over.

I had a b18c in the car 3 weeks ago and was getting 30+ miles per gallon, so I dont think its anything on the "car" side, more so on the "engine". I dont know if this has anything to do with it but,
the motor is a 95ls auto motor and wiring.
manual transmission and ecu.
Does anyone think its posible that in the wiring between the auto and manual dont match up? Im running out of options,

Im putting on a turbo soon so I need this issue resolved. thanks
