Default Will remote start work on 02+ SI (Coded Key)

Hi Guys,

I'm looking into buying a remote start for my 02 Si but I was wondering if it can be done.... I'm not talking about the pysical wiring part... I know that will work... But will it start without having the coded key in the ignition? The 02+ SI's anlong with S2000's and RSX's, and even 97-01 preludes have a coded keys. Does anyone have a remote start in a honda with a coded key ignition? ... Thanks.

It will work with the use of a bypass transponder.

That's what everyone says, but I never had to use one (relay), it worked without it...besides, I'm also powering a bypass at the same time and it works...getting over 12v+ on the dmm.

uh, I doubt you're getting it to work without the relay.. if you are then that car is a fluke. My 97 prelude I had to use the relay trick (connect 30 to one side of the clutch switch, and 87 to the other side, 85 to +12 either ignition or constant, and 86 to the - status output of the remote start). I also know the switch you need is the one back in farther, it's the one that only gets "pushed" when the clutch is to the floor. The other switch closer to the drviers seat is the cruise control kill switch.

EDIT>> I guess I mis-typed what I ment to put... you can do it without the relay, you're right, but it's best to use it so if someone hops in your car, turns the key w/o the clutch in, the car doesn't fire up and hop forward. That way the clutch kill switch still works.

If you don't mind this "issue", then you could tag the ignition output to your clutch switch
