hmm, i never heard of that.
What i have noticed is keeping the most light off of the bottom of the headlight is best.

Its worth a shot. However i may pick up my friends retro ctr lights

I disagree..if you have the right housing for them they will not blind you...before i picked up my EM1 i had an 06 kia spectra and i put a VVME.com (pretty good in my book for quality have had 4 cars with their kits and no problems) kit in there (10K) and the headlights themselves had a reflector cap in them that the bulb slid up to and reflected the light backwards..i got the look i wanted with the color had high beams in hid and never blinded ppl...so if ur set up is right then u wont have any problems just ppl to hate on your set up cause it looks better lol

No. It doesn't look better because people with some insight into what real HID's are know that this does look better than ANY plug and play kit.

Instead of like this with a plug and play kit:

yah thats the problem A LOT of people just spend $100 on the kit and put it on the car.... and blind people... lights arent even aligned properly ones pointing up and the other pointing properly.. If people were to do it right i wouldnt mind.

HIDs are cool if you have them
not cool if the person behind you has them

So what would go onto my 99'' Civic DX HB. The H4 or H4 with the HI/LO option?

Do not buy a hid kit from ebay, i repeat DON"T. They are junk and half of them are DOA.

There is such things a quality PNP kits.
There are actually plenty of sellers on ebay that sell great kits at low prices. The kits your buying are usually made in the same damn factories, they just slap a fancy brand on it, market it like its something special and charge 3x the price. I know a bunch of people who have Ebay HID's and have never had any issues with them.

I actually have a hi/low beam kit direct from a Chinese factory and its wonderful. There is no glare like with normal single mode HID's, and I dont have to have those gay looking projectors.

It does matter, because ones with hi/lo should have reflector setup that will make it not have huge glare like regular HID's.

Im sure there are plenty of good sellers on ebay. I had one ebay hid kit. It was bought from one the so called " good ebay sellers". None the less the kit was broken in less then a month. It started to flicker, and then just didnt turn on.
I cantacted them seller, his stated "I am very sorry to inform you there is no warranty on this perticular item. There was a mistake and a warranty was offered when there truely is none. I hope this doesnt affect our future business."

Acutally, It is not just the high/low hids that have the reflector/sheild. Every H4 bulb should have them regardless of them being HI/LOW or just LOW.
I have only seen one kit that didnt have them and it was a ebay kit.

.
Yes if your HID kit comes with a removable shield, it's a great idea to use them.

&

I've never heard of a plug n play HID kit that WASN'T from china.

<< I started off with a plug n play kit and quickly learned what was up (angry cops and pissed off people). Now I have OEM HID from Japanese market.

Well the company that I bought from on ebay, they were Denso certified. I know a bunch of people who have those kits and never had issues with them. But my point was to say that my kit wasn't a marked up lower priced kit, I ordered it direct from a factory as a sample. And this company makes really high quality stuff. I did this because I was going to start importing them and selling them here since they seemed nice and the prices were good. I just never got the whole deal together and the capital to start it. So I still have the kit on my car and its wonderful. There is no glare, it has both high and low beams, and there have never been any issues with it and I've had it over a year now, and they get used almost daily.

He seems to not have shields, or even have them aimed properly.
My Hid's were never that bad.

Because I'm sure you look at yourself in the rear view mirror 150 feet in front of you.

derp.

I got 12000K for my Prelude. I can't stand how retrofitted shrouds look in the daylight when they're off. Looks like any old ricer projector headlight that used to get slammed on back in the day. I'm about form as much as performance though. Maybe more.

Congratulations you have purple headlights?

That's the quintessential difference. Some people care about being responsible drivers, having functional parts, regardless of looks. I for one would rather have a well handling car than an "omg it looks so awesome" car.

The more you construct form the less money you've got for performance. If you like to have a slow "rave on wheels" that's your call. It's your money. Spend it how you want to.

Even Retrofitted HID's are illegal. You just stand a much better chance at not getting arrested because they aren't purple or blue, and are aimed properly.

By the way, there are plenty of newer lenses that are very narrow and can be used to minimize the "projector-ricer-look" you so abhor. You don't have to get giant lenses with huge housings and chrome facets.

They all look pretty gay. And HID's are not illegal. I dont know what states they may be illegal in or what law was passed that says that. But I have never seen anything ANYWHERE about it being illegal other than from kids on forums. Nor have I ever heard of people getting arrested or towed or impounded for having HID's. Maybe in the **** state of cali something like that could happen, but in the rest of the civilized world, things like that are usually not going to happen.

HID's aren't legal. They might be more lax in FL and GA but in most states you'll get pulled over. And chances are that's only when your headlights are blue or purple.

It's not legal
