Default When your swap arrives what should you check for?

I just got my swap today and for one thing it came with no paper work (I bought it from a company)also the shift linkage into the transmission has been broken off, is it supposed to be like that? Please tell me things that I should be checking for!

Sometimes you don't get paper work, but broken shift linkage doesn't sound right. You should check sensors, wiring, hoses, oil pan, block itself for leaks or cracks, crank pulley, distributor, and pull the valve cover off to get a look inside.

Who did you buy from?
