VAFC : Do I still need ECU upgrade?
hey guys. imma be swapping a d15b (jdm vti vtec) into my car this week. my question is regarding the need for an ecu to control vtec and what not. now i know i could use a obdI ex/si ecu from a eg. my question though, will i need a new ecu if i install a vafc? i know the vafc can control vtec engagement, so that's why i ask. please help a brother out asap.
also wouldn't mind if someone in socal has an ecu to sell me....

If you are installing it into an EG, just get a P08 or P28 ECU that will control the VTEC function and provide the proper air/fuel and timing. It will cost slightly less to buy the proper ECU than it would to get a VAFC. If you want to further tune it after that then the VAFC wouldn't be a bad idea, just don't let it be your sole source of engine management.
