Icon2 Sloppy shifter cables..?? Please help me out

I have a problem with my shift cables binding slightly when going to first and second gear. Any motion to the left regardless of being in gear or neutral. I took off the cover that goes over the shifter and while looking at the cables I noticed a little black sleeve over the cable appeared to be broken. I don't have much experience with cables I primarily used linkages any help would be appreciated

Sloppy shifter has nothing to do with the cables. It's likely the various bushings and sleeves in the shift lever assembly, or on the transmission itself.

Oo ok. Well the tranny is new but I'm putting in a new clutch so I'll check the tranny while I'm on it. Thanks for the info.

I meant the bushings in the ends of the cables where they attach to the shifting assembly on the top of the transmission.
