Default rpm switch to control vtec?

can i run a non vtec ecu, with a vtec head. and just run a rpm switch to control the engagement of the vtec? its a d15b7 block, y8 head and intake manifold, ecu from a 95 lx . the car is a lx. thanks

You could, but the best option would be to use a VTEC ecu, in your case a P28 would be the ecu to use.
