Default PCV valve question

so i have a 2000 integra with a 99 civic si vtec head. i know you are supposed to put the pcv valve between the thing that comes out of the valve cover then have the inline pvc valve the have it go to the intake manifold, i was woundering if anyone knows if you can just put a plug over the intake and just let the thing on the velve cover sit open beacause mine makes a really annyoing cheerping sound if i dont let it breath, i know the fumes will vent out but will it rune anything if i do this? thanks brian
