Default ls/vtec oil pressure question

just did a lsvtec swap in my del sol and every time i drive in vtec (5000 rpm on my ecu) for a while the engine light comes on. not sure if vtec is working because the engine makes a different sound at 5000rpm but it still dose that with the engine light on and i thought the engine light disabled vtec. the code is 22 vtec oil pressure switch which i swapped with a good one, just wondering if this can be due to a low oil pressure situation at the head? any help would be greatful..

Best thing to do is put oil pressure gauge in and see what the oil pressure is.

I am using the ls oil pump. and are you talking about putting a guage in the oil port in the head or on the back of the block, because the port on the head is the vtec oil right? and what should the pressure be on both those places?

I would recomend getting a vtec oil pump asap. Get a mechanical oilpressure gague and t it into the back of the block with the stock pressure sensor. Have you checked the screen in the vtec selenoid?, and what oil weight are you running?

Interesting.... I would really like to know what makes the ITR the best?

Part # 15100-P72-A01

This is the same part number for 1996-2001 Integra RS, LS, GS, GSR, Type R, 1999-2000 Civic SI, and 1997-2001 CRV.

Just make sure you get yourself a vtec oil pump.

ok so i got 2 mechanical oil pressure guages and hooked 1 up to the factory oil pressure sensor in the back of the block and 1 to the vtec oil port in the front of my b16 head, and when vtec activates the oil pressure only goes to like 20 pounds for vtec but at the block it idles at just under 20 psi and at high revs is over 75psi
