Default jdm itr or ctr pistions? daily driver

wussup people....getting ready to order the rest of my parts to compelete my ls/vtec. its going to be daily driven, 94 ls with b16 head and gsr tranny. i was thinking of jdm itr pistons but i was told ctr pistons were better. all i want is a reliable daily driven car.

thanks

u put ctr pistons in an lsvtec and your running race gas full time..ITR pistons are a smaller dome than b16 pistons, my friend had that block, he had to mix a little bit of race gas. if you are down though, i say ctr pistons all the way and your **** will rip.

You'll be fine with either pistons - no need for race gas with CTR pistons

lsvtec with ctr pistons. no race gas? yeah retard your timing all the way...ls block with ctr pistons is the highest compression u can build out of honda parts. u need a mix.

The compression is around 12 areaish, Ive seen plenty of people run CTR pistons in GSR blocks which yield maybe even higher CR #'s and still use 93 octane..

yup.
we run 12:3:1 on 92 octane with advanced timing with no problems. this is with ls/vtec pr3 pistons, 1 layer headgasket

You are absolutely 100% completely wrong. Let me prove it.

A) Compression is 12.5:1 LSVTEC with CTR pistons
B) A good friend has this same setup with R cams and even with 93 octane and the timing retarded to 12 degrees, it still ran like ****.
C) GSR blocks with CTR pistons will net less compression than that of a LSVTEC block with CTR pistons. Why? Less stroke in the GSR motor.

Please stop the misinformation.

I previously had an LSVTEC with USDM ITR pistons. Compression is roughly 10.8:1. Great for 93 octane. The car ran well until it detonated(fuel pump issues). For street, I recommend the ITR pistons or some USDM p30 pistons. The majority of people that run LSVTECs built with OEM materials will tell you unless you have hondata, the CTRs are not very streetable.

I wouldnt say its misinformation - as long there is no milling done to the head I think you'd be fine with a good tuner ( I mean real good)..

IMO - Id still use ITR pistons for streetable, more friendly setup..

im running a little higher than 12:1 compression on my ls/vtec on 93 octane and no problems with that
also i didnt touch the timing

I would defenitly go with the ctr

Aren't you running hondata? I ask only because if one has the hondata unit properly tuned then it really is a streetable set up. ****, it's still somewhat reliable with a skunk2 or mugen programed p28, just not as trustworthy.
