The CTR pistons in your GSR will dramatically increase your compression. You might have issues running pump gas with pinging. I would go with the ITR pistons.

You have CTR pistons and you're not tuned?

That would explain why he needs a rebuild.

yeah just stick with the itr pistons. if you gonna rebuild get them oversized so the clearances are a little tighter

What about in a B16? Which pistons would be better? CTR would give more compression? Would I need another upgrade or would a good tuning again with chrome do just fine? I own a 94 del Sol VTEC B16A3, stock engine just I/H/E no cat and chrome tuning, looking towards upgradings either cams or pistons first, kinda low on budget.

ITR pistons would probably be the best choice.

Engines smoke from a variety of reasons.

If it were me I'd rebuild it RIGHT with oversized pistons, bore and hone cylinders, new bearings, REBUILD THE HEAD WITH NEW EXHAUST VALVE GUIDES, VALVE STEM SEALS, VALVEJOB, MILL WITH PRESSURE CHECK AT A MACHINE SHOP, new seals, gaskets, etc. etc.

People always screw these up by not doing the head too.

its' a three month old thread, I thought it would be better if I just asked here instead of making yet ANOTHER thread under practically the same subject. And I did make it into this thread by searching, its the only CTR vs ITR thread I could find under the keywords I wrote. But anyways, I'm new here, and I don't know how u guys do things around here, so yea. . . sorry for threadjacking.

Don't sweat it man.

I didn't see the age of this topic either.

Here is a fun link for you to play with:

http://www.clubcivicquebec.com...f.php

You can play with various engines, pistons, etc. and calculate CR.
