Ignition problem, starts then dies
Ive got a 96 JDM ITR in my 98 hatch.....
I went to start it up and it fired up right away, but then died immediately. I have never had this problem before, it was very sudden. I tried a couple more times and then gave it gas to keep it alive, but it died as soon as I let off the gas. The CEL came on while I was keeping it alive, though.
Gonna hook it up and see what codes its throwing- but will they be accurate since its a JDM type R? This is the first time the CEL has come on so dont flame me for not knowing please!
Any ideas on what it could be? Ignition? Fuel system?
Also, I dont know if this info helps, but the thermostat takes forever to go up. And if I start driving on it before its past the line on the gauge (does that make sense) then it gives itself a lot of throttle, sometimes up to 2800rpm. And when Im letting it idle, sometimes it fluctuates just barely.

Re: IGNITION PROBLEM?? STARTS THEN DIES
My first thought would be the ign switch..try and start it but don't let go of the key, Just turn it back a little bit so that it's not on the start position and burn up the starter
If it stays running i'd say it's the ign switch harness side. $60 fix.
Is there anything else in the car that doesn't work?? like windows, certain lights?
I had the exact same problem and it would just die after letting go of the key and my windows wouldn't roll up..believe my flashers didn't work or something.
