Identifying an engine?
jst took possesion of well hopping its a b18 uk spec motor, only one problem is tht the engine model code has been grinded off the block . was wanting 2 ask u guys if there's any other way of knowing how to identify the engine and tht it is a b18c without dismanteling? Thanks Chris

not the actual engine number as such, jst where it should say b18c. engine number is all still there. but the engine came out of an imported jdm integra, car was write off so not sure if the scrapyard have dne this?

could be but i'm kinda sure its b18c has the gsr inlet mani on it, but is there no other way unless i check bore mesure ment? i got for $2000 with 40,000 miles on it, its very clean tho.

It should have casting stamps on damn near everything. Head, block, power steering pump and brackets. It should be stamped p72 all over it.

You can tell just by looking at the intake manifold for gsr's. and just look for the vtec solenoid and if it has it, then aleast its a vtec motor.

ok it has p72 on the head , also has the big sort of intake mani which i think .... is gsr? yea its defo a v-tec. but still not sure on the block as arent the b16 heads interchangable? i got it as a kit so if it is a gsr wht ecu would come with this, its say's on the back p9k? if tht means anything and also "made in britain" which makes me think it could well be a uk spec motor? but i think i'am rite in saying tht if it is a gsr it would have the engine code stamped as b18c? or c1?

sounds like you got yourself a UKDM gsr. Is the intake manifold curled under or does it have stright runners?

the mani fold is curled under. with p72 stamped on the head. I now have the head off it, is there any way of telling by looking at the pistons? is there anyone that could post some pics of the difference's... if there. thanks Chris. p.s u have been a gd help
