F20B FAQ
Doea anyone have an ECU pinout diagram for the PCB/PCF that comes on the F20B? The homosexual I bought my engine from cut the harness at the firewall. I've got the ECU plugs with pigtails and they look to be way different in wire location than an H22.
Hey guys, just a few noob questions regarding the F20B. I'm currently switching over from a turbo D16 street/drag car to an all motor set up. The F20B has caught my attention due to the power it makes in stock form as well as the fact that I can get a motor for 1G and use a B-series tranny with it. My questions are:
1. I'm not that familiar with OBD2. I know enough that I'd need a conversion harness to run my OBD1 P28 that I'm running in the car now. I've seen some of these things on ebay but none list 92-95 Civic on there. I'm guessing I could run into issues here?
2. I was planning on installing a set of cams in it, although I'm not sure after reading that aftermarket cams have gone haywire with an F20B. Any more thoughts on this?
3. Does anyone actually make aftermarket valves for this motor? I read that they're smaller than H22 valves which of course leads me to believe that they could be hard to find.
And I guess lastly, my goal for this set up would be to run a 12 on the motor. The car weighs 2200 lbs with me in it (it's got some stuff removed). Is this doable with this engine or am I better off going B18? I'd love a K20 or K24 but I'm not rich enough for that....

have you looked into having the valvetrain, or parts of it treated? there's a bunch of places that offer different kinds of treatment, you should be able to get the rocker arms cryo-REM treated by these guys. http://www.evansperformance.com/
i just set them an email about pricing for a few things for my dseries but it sounds like it should fix it. the websites not the best but they seem to have a good thing goin, if you need more info google REM ISF. im thinkin about getting my crank, valves, rocker assy done

Im doing my swap and i was shipped an auto f20 so that means i have the 180hp motor......not the 200 i was looking for. Which puts cams on the top of the want list.
but if they have issues like the h22 does with cams is it even gonna be worth it???</TD></TR></TABLE>
I was wondering where you bought your F20B at? I'm looking for one, auto or stick makes no difference to me.
If you can help me out that would be great.
I would like to check out you ride sometime. I'm local basically, about 30mins away or so.
Any help would be great,
Thanks

You covert the motor to obd1 not really hard cuz you just dont plug in the knock sensor or the egr stuff. preaty much if your eg didn't come with it you don't need it.

I have an F20b in my car i was told when i ordered the motor it was going to be an manual version but i got a suspicion its an auto version is there any way to tell like markings on the cams or something. thanks guys.
Is the guy in singapore the only place to get the head gasket from?
If youre trying to figure out whether its an auto or manual from just looking at it, it wont be simple. the only thing off the top of my head is the TB size if youre just looking at it. The manual is a 62mm TB, while the auto is smaller than that (around 58-60mm if im not mistaken) if it came without a trans look if its got a flex plate (auto) or a flywheel (manual)
I got an F20b head gasket brand new in the packaging just opened to compare to an H22 gasket from the same place. http://www.autodynamics-honda.com/hopcbcyhega.html Im selling mines for 60 plus 10 shipping. he ships it for 40 bucks (its coming from singapore) I sleeved and overbored my motor thats why im selling it let me know

where can i find specs on f20b. i have a f20b and a h22a4 wondering which would be better. Its going in my accord which is mostly show so just looking for bolt ons and maybe simple turbo kit. tryong to figure out what casm will work and what all i can use from an h. cant find any parts online for the f20b but can find tins for the h22a4. i know bore size and stroke are diff but what about head work (valves, springs, etc)?
I personally have not found any good info on telling the difference from H22, Type S, F20B, Auto or Manual cams anywhere so it seems like a crapshoot buying stock cams.
Am sure honda has some way of being able to distinguish them though.

that is great news. With the iron sleeves and high compression i should be able to boost at like 5 pounds and make a nasty daily driver! Either that or keep it na not sure yet but always open to suggestions!
i dont remember exactly what years i think its 92-96 h22 but anyways that intake manifold/ motor should be obd1 and have a 2 wire iacv. i got mine off ebay w/ TB larger than f20b and then i fought for the wall mounted map and the IACV. NO YOU CAN NOT bolt the 2 wire IACV to the F20B IM bolts do not line up.

to answer the 3 wire question no one has yet. it uses the 5v reference wire and 12v igntion like the H22, but its middle wire is an input from the ecu if im not mistaken and obviously none of the obd1 ecus have it. that IACV from the F20B serves two purposes: its the IACV and the fast idle thermo valve in one. Rosko makes an adapter plate to use an H22 IACV on a Euro R manifold but not the F20B.
