eats mustang's ***** corvette's
what would be the best set up possible to get my 89 crx to do these things? i already have a b16a1 in my car with an s1 tranny.... i spun a rod bearing and now i have to rebuild the block or come up with a different setup. my question is would an ls/vtec frankenstein be the best or would a gsr block w/type-r pistons run the best? i am wondering because i have to figure out which is more reliable and the most efficient for a daily driven street racer......
thanks

.....i'd think if you want to eat up some fast domestic iron you'll need boost or spray:
build that motor by resleeving to 2.0l and forged pistons and rods... Then of course add your hairdryer, bov, intercooler and go hunting.....

I pulled away from a new 'vette in 4th on the freeway a couple weeks ago. If hadn't put that stupid LS fifth gear in my GSR trans, he wouldn't have stayed with me at all. I started to pull away again in 5th when I got back up in the RPM range. What's kind of funny here around Detroit, is that Camaro and Corvette owners usally roll down their window and want to know what's under the hood. The Mustang guys just get mad!

Well we all know that the reliable setup would be the R slugs in the gsr.BUT!! the crvtec will definetly give you a grin. It wont take much with any of these combos in a crx to burn the v8's

1. for 1/8 mile or 1/4 street racing you'll need a built crvtec or you'll wanna turbo one of these...ls/b20/gsr.
2. for the typical off the light race, barely reaching the top of third, a built 200+ crvtec motor rules.......it also cost more than a gsr w/turbo......and a gsr turbo will also rule the highway. turbo cars always beat allmotor cars in mph.
3. camaros, corvettes, and mustangs are not ****. with very few mods, they will always beat fwd cars in street races.......why??.....because they are rwd.

definitely looks like you're on a budget. a built ls or crv block might not be your best bet.
i'd go with a gsr block with r pistons. you keep that factory reliability and can run some serious times with head work. i've seen crx's run high 12's wtih this set-up. totally worked head of course.
