Default Best block for built NA setup???

I did a search but i didnt really find much.Which would be the best block for building an all motor setup.Im looking resleeve and build it up so what would be the best.Im hoping to get over 220whp and was wishing for 250+whp.

I got a gsr block now that is sleeved and i was going to bore it out to 84mm with some je high comp pistons and slap a built b16a head on it that i bought. But was wondering if there are other blocks that would give more torque and hp.Should i just stick with my gsr block or should i go with another bottom end.

If i sell my block and the cash i got,i probably got lets say $3000 just for the bottom end.

sleeved and decked gsr block would do you good. Id just build your gsr block you have now with some 13:1 pistons. However with the deck plate it would be much easier to make mad torque. The only thing is then I think youd have to get a custom timing belt, not sure on that one, custom rods, etc. So youre looking at a big investment. Try out your gsr first, sounds like a good setup.

Sleeve the Block to 84mm+ and run 13+:1 Compression. The power is made in the head...so choose your cams, valvetrain, porting, manifolding, etc...wisely.

If you are really going to do it right, I`d say the cheapest b-series block you can find.

He said that he had a vtec head already. So wouldn't a ls block work better because of the longer stroke. It would allow him to have more torque in the bottom end. Also he could get the B16 pistons and that would give pretty high compression and he still wouldn't have much in the engine.
He would then beable to PnP the head and get better cams and bigger injectors. I think this would be the way to go.
Of course I am partical to lsvtecs. My civic is running about 170 whp and it is just a ls block with a gsr head thats been PnP and a few other mods.

Well Renzema im going a little beyond just getting some b16a pistons and a stock vtec head.I got a vtec head that used to belong to someone that works at import builders and dynoed 242whp all motor with it so i think i got the head covered. He was also using a b20 bottom end.

Well i got someone to buy my block so i really need to make a decision on getting another block.I want to resleeve it,add rods and pistons and what else they do to it to make it better.

Well, if you were going to keep the GSR Block...I'd still sleeve it and go LS Crank.

Your going to gain a Girdle and Internal VTEC. I'm using a b20, but I had a girdle machined to fit...more $ tho. Call RS machine, they did mine...

How much more money?I probably got about 3g's to blow and that has to be included in getting the block.

i think its interesting that everyone claiming import builders says there motor made 240+ at the wheels, yet you never hear anything about these cars running any times...only jerry and marouj's car went 11's. anyway, go h series, once people start to know what to do with h series motors like they know about the b series, its going to be all ha series, and k series.
11.9 all motor in a stock head stock block h22 in a street car full glass no fiberglass parts. sounds like it has some potential.

H22 rock but i dont want to have to do all this stuff to make it fit. There is a couple of h22 eg's here and im out to to run better than them with a b series.

an ls block will work fine for an all motor setup. you can easily make 250 using it. sleeve it 85mm 14:0.1 compression pistons and a nice head. its all in the head like someone said earlier.

If your resleeving, the best bet is to buy the cheapest thing possible...aka B18B.

Your going to replace everything anyways...

Well i dont want to get the cheapest thing i want something that will benefit me more than my gsr block.I could probably get an ls block for pretty cheap though.

.35 thousandths is far from the MAX you can mill a head safely.

far from max meaning past the safe limit? As for the h22 swap i dont really want an h22,i want to be different.Everyone locally thinks h22 are the best for this and that.I want to show everyone i dont need 2.2L and a big as DOHC VTEC sign to run 12's.

What about a gsr block with an ls crank in it?I heard when i resleeve it will make my gsr like a b20 cause of the stroke of the ls crank and the bore being 84mm and over.

EDIT:Also the gsr block will have the girdle and oil squirters to make it more ready for vtec and high rpms.

Ok i talked to my buddy and he said he has a 97ls motor with that need a new oil pump and a rod bearing for pretty cheap.I was thinking sleeve it,micorpolish the crank and maybe knife edge, eagle rods,84mm je pistons balance it and throw a vtec head on it.

Second option is just keep my gsr block go 84mm pistons and rebalance everything and im done.I want something thats not going to struggle with high rpms.
