De-stroke d16z to 1.5??
Ok, i'm new to hondas, and i hope this post doesn't net me a bunch of flame, but anyway here goes:
I was ready the archives here on this fourm and read a few places that the jdm 1.5 sohc v-tec has a better rod to stroke ratio than the usdm d16z. Would it be feasable or desireable to take a USDM d16z and de-stroke it to a 1.5? Would this require different rods or crankshaft? Would the gains outweigh the loss of .1 liter of displacement? Anyone ever thought of this b4? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: De-stroke d16z to 1.5?? (beyond-redline)
I used to have the JDM d15B sohc vtec motor, currently waiting to swap my ZC sohc vtec (d16z6).
why would you want to destroke it? d16z6 doesn't have the greatest r/s ratio but its an excellent motor.
137mm rods are found in d16z6 as well as in the JDM and USMD VX motor
1.5l crank (yes its different) and so is the block hight (taller for d16z6)
soon I'll do a comparion on the d15b vs the d16z6. dynos, and overall feeling in the car.
check my website for the dyno of the d15b (JDM).

with motor producing 120ish hp, rod to stroke ratio is the least of your concern. You would only be concerned with this if your reving really high and trying to produce a lot of power.
If you want to produce a lot of Hps, the d-series is not the ideal platform. Look into the b series.
