Jdm D15B Usdm D16Z6
I am considering swapping out my DX motor. I wanted to stay with it, but it really isn't cutting it anymore. I was planning on going with a "homemade" turbo setup, but I read up on it and it looks like the D15B7 rods are pretty weak.
So I was thinking of getting a D16Z6 swap because the internals are better and I get the All-Mighty VTEC. I was reading some members' posts about turbo D16's and they are getting some GOOD numbers without spending a lot of money.
However, while reading I also came across the D15B SOHC VTEC JDM motor. I would also consider buying this motor. I just was curious to see how the internals of this motor are, and if there is the possibility of upgrading them in the future.. b/c as far as I know, there really isn't a whole lot of parts available for the D15B7.
So, if someone can informe me of the details of this motor (comp. ratio, and how 'good' the rods/pistons are) it would really aid in my decision. Oh, also if someone can let me know of a good source for either motor and the approx. cost of each.
I also know that the D16Z6 is pretty much bolt up, with a new ECU. What about the JDM D15?
Thanks alot!

Re: Jdm D15B Usdm D16Z6 turbo (w00t!)
Yeah, I did a lot of reading and didn't come up with too much.
I read up alot, 2-stage vtec, 3-stage vtec.. etc etc... I really haven't posted a lot on this board, because I read and search first. I know some people get real angry if someone doesn't search first. Also, archive searching is disabled.. whats up with that? There is also a guy on this board who has a JDM D15, turbocharged and is getting some nice numbers. I tried talking/emailing him, but still haven't gotten a reply.
I came across one thread that said the JDM D15 VTEC is a VX block with a D16Z6 head... is this true? Because if this is true, I came across a site that said the D15Z1 and D15B7 rods are the same... that would mean that the internals on this motor aren't "better" than those on my D15B7?
This is for my 93 Civic DX Sedan... Ferio , lol, j/k.
Now, did you get just a block and bolt it up to your current head? Oh.. and I did some reading, and the D16Z6 ECU should work with this motor... see.. I don't just post... I read too.
