B20z2 swap question????
Ok i need a COMPLETE list of things I need to swap a b20z2 in a 97 dx civic coupe. I have a LS hydro tranny and I found the complete b20 longblock. I know I need the crv ecu and wiring harness. I have small questions like can I use the alternator off the d16? I have a half shaft off of a DA cable tranny. I was wondering if i could use that? Power steering pump and ac compressor off the d16? Im kinda shady on the mounts. Ive heard use si rear and del sol a/c mount; need that verified. As Im keepin a/c. Should I use 94+ LS axles or 99-00 si axles? The ecu and wiring harness have to be from a 5 speed correct in order to hook up right to the LS 5 speed correct? This is gonna be my first swap and also gonna be my dd since my other car is getting ready to be redone. So I need a relible DD. Thanks

I just dropped a B20B into my 90 DA. If you're using the LS tranny, a DA halfshaft should work fine, although any B series halfshaft should work. Not sure if the VTEC engines have different mounting points, but I know a B18CR engine and my B20 have identical halfshafts.
As far as the ECU, you probably want the CRV or another non Vtec ECU from a B series engine, like an LS ECU. Your D series ECU won't provide enough fuel delivery for that big engine. Chiped and tuned is your best bet here.
I don't see why you couldn't use the actual alternator, but you have to use the B20 alternator brackets, obviously. As far as wiring harness, I don't see why you'd need to change that. You're not running VTEC(yet?) and your car is OBD2 now anyways, so everything should hook right up.
As far as the P/S and A/C go you might be able to get away with using the actual units, but again, you'll have to use the B20 brackets. When searching for an engine call places and ask what comes on the engine. I got my B20B from Japanese Engine Imports(http://www.japaneseenginesimport.com/eng/home.htm) and it came with all that good stuff. I didn't use it, but it was on the engine nonetheless.
Either axle options would work. Besides girth, all B series trannys share the same length axles.
Yes, the ECU has to be for a manual tranny. The harness(if you decide to buy one) doesn't matter. But, again...you shouldn't have to do anything with the harness.
As far as mounts go...just buck up and get some Hasport/Innovative/Avid mount kits...they're not real expensive and you'll not have to worry about sourcing the wrong mounts from stock cars.
Hope this helps more than "Search".

Well, you will have to wire for VTEC. But you might be able to get a prewired piece from a company, or just wire it yourself. I think you need VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure switch and one other...somone else might be able to help you out better with this part.
Check Rywire.com or google VTEC wiring or something.

My bad...I thought he was going B20/Vtec...no need for any wiring, other than, maybe, thermosensor depending on your year car. Everything else is plug and play really.

You can use it just fine. There's no need to go to a B18B manifold. I'm using a B18A I/M and it's fine. If anything, go aftermarket for better flow.
