Re: b20b non-vtec ??? (juicedricer)
Well im kinda discouarged, I only ran a 15.6 but it was my second time drag racing. I have the SK2 IM is the only other mod I have and I dont have the FPR on there> it was also 105 degrees out and I ran a 15in rim and my MPH went down from 90 - 85mph... I did have BFG drag radials, I couldnt hook up with street tires... My 60 was 2.2 and reaction was .555. I really want to run 14s with this motor before turbo!

they all look pretty weak to me but thats just from looking at the stats....
if you want to make good power non vtec your gonna have to give up that idle

finally an non vtec b20 thread. Does anybody know if I would notice a difference if I used my friends ls cams from his 93 ls? I heard the b20b's are not high rev friendly.

haha this tread is back from the dead.... B20 no-vtec I hope you all swap this post
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=520581 haha
BTW LS cams and B20 cams are almost identical the newer LS cams 94+ have the same specs as B20 cams. IMHO it's not even worth the time to swap in some other OEM cams! save and get the crower 62404's

Re: b20b non-vtec ??? (ek44)
yeah.. i got a b20z in my coupe with gsr tranny.. it runs pretty good for a non-vtec motor. ran a 9.7 in the 8th mile so once i put the rest of the stuff i have on it, it should be pretty quick.. skunk2 manifold, jdm 4-1 header, cams, nitros express kit..

Re: b20b non-vtec ??? (ek44)
well seems i will be the first to ask this question:
why no vtec?
i'm planning on getting a b20z, then as time will pass put a vtec head on it.
How can one set of cam specs be better than two? Maybe for an all out drag car maybe, but for people that drive the streets everyday, having two sets of cam specs is invaluble!
I understand the love for simplicity, but IMO the battle should be NA vs Turbo, not no-tech NA vs high-tech NA.
The b20b was meant as an economical car in an suv, not a race car by any standards.
and its not like finding a vtec head is expensive or hard, and it results in a quick boost to perforamnce with room to expand.
Now if you bought a b20b for the purposes of a turbo that would be a diffrent story, but if you peeps want to keep it NA, why take the hard route? And while alot of you want to be unique, i see it as a dying cause.
Its as if your a Coke lover and are forced to drink Pepsi, and you only drink enough to satisfy your thirst but not the whole thing because you hate the taste.
or investing 5000 grand into an engine only to keep the stock airbox and exhaust because " you dont want to attract any one" and " keep it quiet"
If your gonna make a race engine out of something that isnt, why not go all the way?

Re: b20b non-vtec ??? (ek44)
to a great thread....
I found a local 2001 b20z (14K miles)for $1200 and since I have a gsr tranny, axles, shaft, linkage, mounts I thought it would be cool to put in the CX....
After reading all the replies and many other threads, I am not sure... The B20 Non vtec challenge might not be for me.... I have a b18c1 short block I am trying to sell

I would like to know how far....
Also can I use the starter out of an automatic cr-v car? I think not.

Re: b20b non-vtec ??? (Nikos)
I had to use an integra starter. I had a CRV one and it was too long.
The torque rocks...the top end does not rock...yet.

Dude... you just bumped a 15 year-dead thread. If you really want to purchase this transmission, I suggest you post this in the proper forum... which happens to be the "Want to Buy" sub forum. Good luck.
