B20 setup cost
I'm considering doing a B20 swap in my car, but i was wondering about the total cost of the setup to get it in my car and running. I'm not going to be putting a VTEC head on it, but i want a GSR tranny........other than that i think i only need LS intake manif, and ECU, oh, and axles, but how much should i expect to pay for this? Basically i'm trying to price the cost of the complete swap, so if you've done this, then maybe you could help me out. THANKS

Re: B20 setup cost (thehatchninja)
i had my swap done proffesionally. it cost me less then 4000$ at first. b20b with LS parts (tranny, axles, manifold, etc). but at the end, i ended up getting screwed.

id hook you up with the shop i am going to, but u live to damn far, but with ur hatch ur gonna need motor mounts, tranny, axles, all the bull, u know, mine just drops in, i just need to change out the OBD-2 to OBD-0, so its all good, ill probably get it done for 1200, cuz they are pretty tight, and i am gonna bring to them hopefully tomorrow.

Re: B20 setup cost (thehatchninja)
I paid $2,000 for my set up. i got GSR mounts, GSR tranny (50k), ls axles, ls ecu, intake b18b manifold, ls b18b throttle body, B20b (38k), integra throttle cable, wire harness, and a 4-1 stainless header. and the guy i got it from helped me put it in. for the price of the CRV motor ($750-1000) you might as well get a b18b w/ b16 head. but good luck. oh and i love my swap. i'm sure you will like all the low end it has.

Re: B20 setup cost (Typesi2nv)
true i could go with a LS vtec conversion, for roughly the same price, but my motor has 151k and thats kinda pushing it especially on the block, and it also has a blown head gasket, so i dont know how well the block is gonna hold up, but i am gonna be happy with my B20 swap, but u got a good deal on ur swap into ur DX, i am impressed, but u didnt urself right?

What do you think I should do in my car, I was curious about a b20 with a 16 VTEC head on it? I heard thats a nasty swap. Let me know, thanks.

yeah, my B21 is doing the normal oil leaker thing right now, but I think I can salvage it. What machine work has to be done to put a 16 vtec head on it?

Re: B20 setup cost (vehic_illu)
update on my swap, i got a B20 vtec swap for 2200 in my car including a racing clutch, and i think it would be better to swap ur motor because u probably have a lot of miles on ur car, right?

Re: B20 setup cost (thehatchninja)
Yeah, I have high miles and I've decided to start with a fresh block. Where did you go through to get it? 1350 huh? My buddy is from Santa Rosa, So I can always work something out. I want to do this swap because I can retain all my ac and ps as well as same axles and mounts. So, hows that thing run?
