98 LS VTEC Auto ?'s
A friend has done a GSR head on his 98LS and the VTEC solenoid isnt hooked up. The engine is rattling pretty loudly. Does he need to have the VTEC solenoid wired or can it be left dead. Car only ran about 10 minuntes before it started rattling. Doesnt sound like a rod bearing. Seems to be coming from the head. I'll be helping him out with it this afternoon but know nothing aboiut LS VTEC's in autos so any help is appreciated.

Re: 98 LS VTEC Auto ?'s (Bloodline)
Here's a question... What pistons are u using, do u have adjustable cam gears, did u check timing (ignition and total?) I am doing the same swap, and my engine sounds beautiful until i move and then i loose pwr. Maybe i can help u out with the rattle, as for me if u can, i need help with the power loss

Figured out the problem. He forgot to change the oil and it was full of water. It was the rod bearings clattering around. I changed the oil and it stopped, but that doesnt mean there wasnt some damage done. Hopefully it'll hold together.
As for the stalling problem, I dont have enough experience with these setups to offer any useful advice to you. Hopefully someone with mor experience will post.
