Default 96 civic b20b4 swap several ?'s

ok here is what i have
96 civic dx 5spd d16y7

I have compiled all the stuff i needed to put a b20b4 into a 94 civic...well plans changed and i have now bought 2 civics this weekend both from the original owner, one is a 96 and one is a 97 both are dx hatchbacks and both are d16y7 and 5 spd.

I have gathered:
b20b4 long block
LS 5 speed hyd trans
94 95 LS intake manifold
b series shift linkage
94 95 b18b1 brand new distributor(will it work being we are going to use a p75 obd1 ecu)
etc, bunch of other crap
94 01 integra D/S post mount (obviously need to sell it and get a 99 00 si style post mount)
94 01 integra rear T bracket (need to sell it too since it won't work,) will the stock d16y7 t bracket work???

anyways i was getting everything together to put this in a 94 civic but plans have changed and being we now have 2 civic hb's 96 and a 97 we decided to put the b20 in the 96 model...

I need to know WHY a 94 95 obd1 LS IM will not work for us. From what i read it says we must have a obd2 IM. I am going to be using a obd1 p75 ecu with jumper harness, So in my mind i am thinking the obd1 ls IM is ok and will be perfect for this application.

So basically what i need to know is will my obd1 IM be ok being we will run a obd1 p75. WIll the d series rear t bracket fit and be useable. Will the bracket that bolts TO the trans be re used from the d16 5 speed to the b18b1 ls trans i have or do i need to buy the 99 00 civic si rear t bracket?

Sorry for having such a messy thread but all i do is h22 stuff and the b series stuff is something we do not do much of.

TIA and please don't flame me for asking general ?'s I am a regular in the 92 00 civic forums and like i said i do tons of h swaps but am not very knowledgeable on the b swaps especially with the mess of mixed parts we have aquired to do this b20 into the 96 hatch.

looks to me like the original b20b4 d/s post mount is ok to use and doesn't need to be swapped for a 00 si one.. i do not see a difference.. i see the b20z has a enlongated one that would put the engine crooked in the bay but i think the b20b bracket will be perfect.

The B20B driver's side engine bracket appears to have the correct angle, but it is taller than the '99-00 Civic Si bracket... if you try and use it, the engine will sit about 3" lower to the ground on the driver's side compared to the passenger side !!! You MUST use the '99-00 Civic Si bracket if you intend to use a stock type driver's side engine mount.

You MUST use a '99-00 Civic Si rear T-bracket... the SOHC bracket will NOT work.

You must modify the '96 civic engine harness by lengthening/shortening all necessary plugs, as well as changing a few plugs (IAT, IACV, Dist just to name a few common possibilities).

You can use an OBD-1 distributor, but the '96 civic engine harness will have a different Dist plug style... you will need to convert the plugs OR find a '96-99 Integra LS Distributor that will plug directly into the '96 civic engine harness. Some '96-98 CR-V distributors will work as well, just compare the plugs first.

The OBD-1 Intake manifold will work as long as you don't have any legal issues with an annual inspection.

Civic upper transmission bracket will bolt to the LS transmission, but the front torque mount will not. You will need the bracket from a "B" series DOHC hydro car (94-01 teg, 99-00 Si, 94-97 DOHC Del Sol). The actual torque mounts (they bolt to the bottom of the frame rails, L & R) will work with the proper brackets.

Good luck.

i am fine on everything but see i notice the b20z has the d/s bracket that would make the engine sit wayyy low... my b20b4 is straight out of a 97 crv and it has the short bracket and looks identical to the 99 00 brakcet

wiring i am a genius with and conversion stuff no prob.. i have done a **** ton of swaps just not b series. everything is taken care of besides i am waiting on my 94 01 teg t bracket to sell on ebay so i can buy a 99 00 si one.

not going to use torque mounts.. gonna use a rigid 3 mount set up...

The OBD1 dizzy will work but you need to get the jumper harness for it or rewire the engine harness for it. It is just easier to stick with the stock OBD2 dizzy that comes with the motor. OBD1 conversions are stupid easy these days. All you need the a chip-able OBD1 ECU and a OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness. I am pretty sure the OBD1 mani will work but just the bare mani basically you will wan the OBD2 TB because it does not have the stupid fast idle valve and you will want to use the OBD2 injectors but you can always wire in OBD1 injector clips. As for that mount bracket on the drivers side you need a 99-00 Civic Si.

like i said wiring is no problem. I am running obd1 dist, obd1 ecu, obd1 IM and obd1 injectors.. i have a spare obd1 civic harness i will use everything i need off of it.

i got to get a header and a d/s bracket and T bracket..

I already ordered my ecu i need.
