Default How to read a Motors year

My buddy has this motor


Its a B18c1 USDM

would that be a 1995 OBD1 motor?

sure looks like it.. unless for soem reason, it was made at the end of one production year, and its a 94, or a 96.. most likley is a 95 though.

funny thing is he claims its an OBD2 motor, so i guess it was used in a 96 GSR

the stamp is 1yr older than the chassis
so that would make it a 96 - he's right

Wouldnt that be one year younger to work like that? Its 95, if it was one year older wouldnt the car be 94? But if it was younger it would be 96.

Anyway You had it going just that its younger over older for the chassis.

94 motor = 95 car
93 = 94
99 = 00

etc.

Edit: <FONT SIZE="2">My info here is wrong</FONT> i forgot that later the year older the car.

no, he had it right. the stamp on the ENGINE!!! would be a year older than the chassis

DAMNIT! I just forgot were talkign about year and not like regular numbers or something. Yea 95 is older then 96, damn i feel dumb now.

It's a 96, I know because my RS motor is that year too. I pull a car fax and said that it came from a 96 RS. 96 and up is OBDII

it all depends sometimes there the year of the car and sometimes its a year older then what the car is
