Default 92+ injectors on an obd0 ecu?

i asked a few questions the other day and one of them was if 92+ injectors would work with an obd0 ecu.. the answer was no, peak and hold, low impedence, all that.. no resistor box on the 92+ etc..

but i was working on my friends 89 crx and i remembered his setup.. 96 d16y8 (ex) motor, stock injectors, has the resistor box, using a pm6 (88-91 si) ecu.. and his has been fine.. runs mid 14's with no problem for almost a year now

can anyone clear this up for me?

When you say stock injectors, are you saying he is running the D16Y8 injectors with the resistor box, and an OBD1/OBD2 ECU? That will not work. There would not be enough power getting to the injectors for them to open and close. There would be about 22 ohms of resistance, rather than 12 or so. The voltage would be too low.

To run OBD1/OBD2 injectors with an OBD0 ECU, it is necessary to remove the resistor box.

i understand whatcha mean by using an obd1/2 ecu with an obd0 resistor box since the ecu is only pushing enough power out to just go straight to the injectors, and not through some hinderance..

but my friends is d16y8 injectors, 88-91 resistor box, obd0 si ecu.. and its been working like i said for about a year or so... mind you nothings wrong im just asking cuz i posted before about b20 injectors on an obd0 b16 manifold + b16 ecu.. i read somewhere that it adds like 3-4 hp but they were of course using an obd1 b16 ecu.. around the same time i read that you cannot put 92+ injectors in conjunction with an obd0 ecu.. which is fine we put the b16 injectors back in the manifold and just played it safe..

so im wondering if theres a problem at all with obd0 ecu -> resistor box -> obd1/2 injectors .. and if so.. why is my friends fine..

nobody have an aneurysm over this question cuz its not really important, just curious.. thanks btw jaker
