Injectors and resistor boxes?
I know that if u run obd-0 injectors u need to run a resisitor box. And with obd-1 or obd-2 injectors u dont run one. But my question is WHY? I have seen a few guys (with 88-91 civics) lately running OEM obd-1 and 2 injectors with OEM resistor boxes. I asked them why and they didnt even know they "shouldnt" be running it like that. Their cars ran fine. So whats the deal with this? BTW i believe they both had obd-0 ECU's.
obd0 and many high flowing (yes i know not all) run low impedence injectors, therefore if you are running on a high impedence ecu(obd I and II) then you run a restistor box to allow for the same resistance. As far as running high impedence injectors on a low impedence ecu, i don't see that as working.
well another friend of mine ran obd-1 injectors without the resistor box on his PM6 obd-0 ecu. It ran fine. You can also do the opposite without any problems (obd-0 style injectors with the res. box on obd-1 ecu). But what i want to know is how come, or why would u want to, run obd-1 or 2 injectors WITH a resisitor box? I thought it couldnt be done, that is until i actually saw it and the cars ran fine. Anyone else care to chime in?
Honda ecu's use high-impedance injectors.. If you have low-impedance then you need the resistor box.. I have ran high impedance injectors with a resistor box before and it worked fine..
If you do know someone who has low-impedance injectors and isnt using the resistor box it probably won't work for long..
