I bought my 02 S four months ago and Ilove the car, more than any other car ive driven. But at the same time it is the most costly out of every car I have bought. I am 23 years old and make 30k/yr... Paying 241/mnth insurance and a high 471/mnth payment is a huge sacrifice. I had to finance in money from my mustang bc insurance wouldnt give me what I oweso im paying 18k for a 16k car. With warranty, I financed 20k.
It is all worth it to me, though. Every day when Idrive to work i get a huge smile on my face , and ripping through vtec while your passenger grabs the door handle is what its all about. Buy the car that YOU want, not what everyone tells you to buy. Thats what I did, and I know now through experience that a ford cannot in any way compare to a honda!!!

I just turned 20 and financed a 2003 Civic Si last summer. My dad co signed so that I could get the lower interest rate and with warranty and everything I ended up financing like 17K or something like that. I make some decently large payments (350 a month) and am going to be doing so for almost another 4 years. I am ok with that. I dunno what I wanna do yet and am not in a huge rush to go to college and change my major 4 different times (like all my friends)... But hope to go eventually.

Every day I love driving my car. My girlfriend feels sad because I spend all my extra money on her (I love her to death!) and don't have a ton of money to buy myself nice things. I tell her I spend 350 bucks a month on my self and I love EVERY BIT OF IT!

I bought my EP3 with only 30,000 miles on it and so I was ok with paying a little more for having a low mileage car. I know that I can do pretty much all of my own work on my car (have lots of friends that are mechanics and have a full shop at my disposal) and since I work at NAPA I can get parts for a very good price too (we have OE parts suppliers so I can get OE parts too) which makes maintenance easy for my part.

I don't believe I would have been able to afford a car like this when I was 17 as I was still sitting on my *** playing Halo with my friends all day. Now we are grown up (just a little, we still play Halo every once in a while) and can handle the responsibilities.

Do what you want but do know...

Having a cool car isn't going get you friends. (It'll probably make you lose some from stupid mistakes or fights about who's car is faster)

Having a cool car won't get you a nice girlfriend. (It will just get you some gold digger chick with AIDS, some of you are ok with that... Haha. My girlfriend liked me just as much when I was driving my 89 hatchback. Now I just happen to have a cooler car.)

And having a cool car won't make you happy because you will probably still want more and not be able to afford it.

damn that was looooong.

Damn dude! When I was 17 I'm driving a Ford truck(01) and still driving the same thing for 4 years w/ 97400 miles and I love it but who cares because I just need something to get me A to B ya know. I also wanted an S but my brother took that from me but then again who cares cause I could just drive his from time to time and plus part of that S is mine but I don't want to get into that! I could wait until I get my car cause theres no hurry right? Just wanna finish school first. And get the car that I really want. If I were you keep the civic cause too young for an S or get a different car.

I remember when i was 17 i thought i could afford cars like wrx's and s2000's.

1st. What s2000's are $12000? I saw some salvaged ones for $15000.

I'm looking for 04 up for around $22-25k $3-$4k down on the financing. That graffiti guy may have sounded mean but he is absolutely right.

Anyways like others have said, this car really sounds like its out of your ballpark. It's not the typical 92+ civic or integra. It's a NICE car, its more expensive to maintain and aftermarket parts are more expensive. I'm guessing you want to mod it?

Im 21, i have full coverage with progressive insurance. For an 05 s2k i would pay $167/month with no tickets. All that 100/300 crap doesn't change my premium very much no matter how high i put them, its calculated at how many miles per year i drive.

A nice car may be fun but when it gets to the point where your working your *** off for the car the fun goes away. What happens if you want to move out in a year or 2? How about if you meet some foxy lady?

If you have the money to buy/finance an s2k and operate one (insurance, gas, repairs) and still are able to put money in the bank every month then go for it.
