hey guys im i know ive kinda posted something like this before. but im torn. alright i have a 2006 ap2 and love the car. and heres the problem i want a BMW 335i coupe. other the s2 its probably the only car i would consider worth the money to own .and the only reason really other than the fact the car is badass is that got a kid now and the girlfriends got a scion xb so theres one car thats got a back seat. but before i could even think bout gettin a bimmer i gota get outa the contract with the s2. so my question is you guys think its worth my time and effort even going through this situation or shoud i just keep the s2? i know obviously that everyone here is partial to s2000's so all input would be appreciated.

335i a downgrade/low grade? I think you're mixing up the 335i and the 330ci.
335i is the 3.0 twin turbocharged 300hp. Definitely not a downgrade from a stock or slightly modified S.
Onto the original poster, since you said you need a back seat since you have a kid, I wouldn't go for any coupe. Instead of selling the S and getting a 335i, I'd keep the S and get a TSX or a TL or something along those lines. Or you could sell the S and get a BMW M5, Audi S4/RS4, or something along those lines.

its like the older audi s4. twin turbo v6, except no awd. a friend of mine has an 03? s4 with a turbo-back exhaust and he always tries to compare the S to it. it has 2 more cylinders, 2 more turbos, 2 more propelling wheels, and 3 more seats... its in a completely different class of cars. id still take the S over it even though he catches up to me on the straightaways
you guys are nuts saying the 335i is crap.....
interior is sick in that car, esp the red and black.
With a sport package that car is awesome, i would sell my s for that in a heartbeat, too bad there is a $30k price difference.
Ohh and with only a few mods those things are above 400whp. . . . .

lol to those saying the 335i is crap you must be smoking something ......
not sure if you guys been keeping up, but a couple of SIMPLE mods and they're putting down like 380 hp / 400 tq or something like that. As far as reliability, there hasn't been any recorded issues RELATED to modding.
There was that heating issue, but I believe thats been resolved. (as with all new models there are issues).

agreed.
335i is ****, and would smash all of those cars listed.

The 335i is a PHENOMINAL car that only requires a little bit of ECU tuning to break the 400WHP threshold.
We've had SO many of these come in for installs and tuning with the Procede it's ridiculous to see how easy it is for them to make power.
The new Audi A4 avant isn't to bad either

Again you'll probably heard this .. but they're totally different cars. I actually have this disease/problem where i get bored of cars pretty quick. I often would really enjoy it then get bored of it back and forth lol ..
Im really debating on getting back into a BMW again and more so the 335i, but today while driving the S I realized that I will miss how awesome the S. I know the 335i will have more neckbending power, but it wont feel as raw or fun bla bla. So im flipping back and forth. (oh and getting two is not an option right now)

As far as fun factor, the 335i will never touch a S2000 unless you get your jollys off straight line performance. Don't get me wrong, the 335i is an amazing car, but not worth the price tag when for the same price you can have a S2000 and almost an Accord, more realistically a Civic. I agree with the people saying get a second car and keep the S2. Best of both worlds in my opinion. Haul the kid around in the Civic/Accord and then keep your S2000 for the fun trips.
You say contract, would that be a lease contract? If so, good luck with that. Keep the car until the lease runs out. You will pay a lot just to unload the car.
If you truly must have a BMW and are looking at spending $40,000+, be sure to look into a used E46 M3. You can easily find a nice example of a M3 for $40,000.

335i....nice choice. I would personally go with the E92 xi coupe N54B30 (A twin turbo 3.0l i-6 with double vanos, and direct injection.) BMW actually rated the engine to have 300/300 to the crank from 1800 rpm to 5600ish rpm's, but underrated the motor and is actually putting over 300 not to the crank but to the wheels, falling somewhere around the same power output (330hp) as the 3.7l infinity G37 to the crank with VVEL the cheap knockoff version of Valvetronic.

While lacking in the torque numbers by about 30 lbs less than the bimmer totaling around 270 torque on the G and 300 BMW. The n54b30 has huge potential, in addition to a map clamp or a stand alone piggyback system can boost engine output into the 400 hp range with just a few computer modulations, why not you already got the turbo's why not put them to work. Not to mention the new Xdrive system is awesome, it can deliver wheel torque output to where it needs it in whatever situation you put it in. If your in an under steer situation then it demands power to the front wheels to pull you out of the turn, and over steer it puts power to the rear wheels to try to snap the rear around to push you through the turn. It actually works really well, and is fun to drive, of course its not a Ferrari or Lamborghini and whole intention to make a street legal race car, but BMW makes a really well preforming machine with comfort and driving pleasure in mind.
If modding is what your into then id probably wait till the E82(coupe) or E88(convertible) 135i comes out with the same N54 power plant as its older bro the 335, and its smaller and lighter but your going to have to wait on it.
E46 M3 is also an awesome car, really fun to drive great power and enough room for me to fit in the back seat(not tooooo comfortable tho and I'm 6'3") but the SMG is awesome. Its kinda like a vagina version of a manual tho, launch control is about the only cool thing other than how fast it can shift or if you wanna get a lil somethin somethin from the misses while cruising nowhere special just throw it in auto mode and cruse. But anyways launch control is awesome. It electronically disengages the clutch till commanded then it slips the clutch to maintain maximum torque output to the wheels gripping limit. it really breaks your neck and is a lot of fun. if you've never tried it id strongly recommend it.
i guess since I've been going to BMW STEP school in Orlando I'm kinda stuck on BMW now excuse me for rambling on but if you have any questions on them i'll be sure to find them out for you if i don't already know it.
my best friend is a Honda fanatic owns an s, me personally one of the greatest cars Honda has ever made. All he's owned is Honda's, nephew owns an s and driven a few at the dealership i worked at they are a great handling car but i would much rather have any one of those cars. their more practical and still awesome to drive, but then again is no go cart like you're used to. I just love the technology that goes into euro cars.
if you want real power then get a BMW e30 with a 1.5L/1.8L based M10/m12 motor and weld the head to the block and put like 45 psi of boost to it like they did in the 1983 F1 season and make 1500 hp out of it. take that Honda. they never had any problems with the internals or block it was tank, when ever anything broke, it was either the turbo or drive line but never the power plant. originally designed twenty years earlier the engine was only designed to handle 130 hp tops out of the 318i

umm why are you thinking about this twice? just get the 335i. lets see the ods of that:
extremely powerfull
extremely luxurious
can be made even more powerful
BMW steering feel (if you ever drive one you would know)
ITS A BMW!!!!
and the list goes on and on. i love my s2000 but i would take a 335i in a sec over it

well got a lot of positive input from all u guys thanx. mind u me having a back seat is just a plus if i do get a 335i. it would just be a "when i have to i can" type deal that is if i have. the XB would be the primary car being used to haul the kid and love hondas dont get me wrong. they're all i have ever owned. but i think its time for a change and i think i wana go german. but its still hard to think bout lettin the S go. but yeah 335i turbo and luxury cant beat that.
