umm..you guys say it over and over..tellin him to think long term and makin investments..he's just 17. you reallie think investing and thinking long term is reallie the first thing on his mind..he's 17! tellin him to live like a teenager? not to be knockin on anyone but its youre descision kid. keep in mind a teenager in a sports car such as an S one little slip youre gonna be front page. youre age and being behind the wheel of a sports car would be the most controversal topic..more then who or what was involved. just think before you act a fool. dont ruin it for everyone youre age.

dude.... u are gonna want to spend so much money on mods that u'll hate having that much cash in a car. and when you pay it off it won't be close to what you've got in it after interest. i'd get something else for starters...

that said- you'd really get a lot of ***** at ur highschool proms and such.

true on mods. trust me . . any honda u buy, it wont be good without spending so much damn money onto it.. and s2000 tuning is alot more expensive compared to civics/integras..

When i had s2000 i spent 5 gran on my car and i wasnt NEAR what i want..

I have Integra Type R.. and i spent 8~9 gran.. im almost near done tuning.

im 17 years old, i have a 2000 S2000, insurance is a little less than $200 after the good student discount. i payed $16,000 for the car. After trading in my jeep i nocked it down to about 10,000 and i financed it for 4 years. If you don't mind paying alot of money (for a 17 yr old making minimum, these payments are high) than get it, just DON'T wreck it, or your screwed.

i would personally keep saving up your money and purchase an s2000 when you're more mature. not saying that you arent, but im saying as far as experience behind the wheel.

you could always sell your current car and get a cheap, stock, reliable daily so you dont have any urges to buy any parts for it, then you will save money on insurance when you do get an S

ha..this little boy is warning me? i bet your ***** haven't even dropped yet...but you think you can handle a big boy car? i wasn't going to "hate" but you called me out...and as an FYI, it's not me "hating", it's me giving you little children advice that you should hear that your boyfriends on myspace won't tell you
...so please, buy the car, crash it, and go broke in the process.....graf-fiti is on your side </TD></TR></TABLE>

I wouldn't call what Graf-fiti is saying "hating." I'm going to have to agree with him what he is saying "buy the car, crash it, etc." Why? Because he probably should have been on the M5 forums hating on the other kid as well. For the veterans on here it's a repost, but this is for the OP (read through the entire thread OP). Good work Graf-fiti, too many young ones not knowing what they are getting themselves into.

Listen to GRAF-FITI man. I wanted to do the same thing when I was 17. In fact, I did buy a brand new RSX-S when I had just graduated high school. I had a pretty stable position that would supply enough for payment, insurance, and some spending money. At the time, I could not have been happier. I made a $3,000 downpayment and made every payment on my own. Although I loved that car, I do regret spending so much money on cars. I was definately strapped, especially when the modding began. It is not worth it to have such a high liability at such a young age. I guarantee you will look back and regret it. If your mother truely wants you to have a better life, have her put that $8,000 in an investment account. It would be better then a depreciating car that would do the same thing a Civic would. If you really must have a more dependable car, believe me I know how that goes, then go buy an Accord or something. It will cost you much less. Finish school, including college if you choose to, then go establish yourself in a career. The car will come and you will appreciate and respect it much more.

Totally agree with you. Same with Graffiti. At 17 you're still a very young kid. Finish school and play later. That's all I have to say. And Graffiti, I feel your sympathy for these kids. Some of us only learn after getting burn. Good luck with your choice.

maintenance and repairs add up eventually. you will have absolutely no spending money left. and think of college. hehe bash all you guys want as well with me. i had a supercharged si when i was 16 and i just made the purchase of an 01 s2000 at 18(current age). parents pretty much paid for my car. but i am stuck with insurance.but if you do buy the S, please just drive carefully. this machine is definitely not for immature people wanting to mess around with it. you add too much ***, you'll be spinning(around turns).

so to your question. should you get it? if you want to sacrifice everything else just for the S(for 3 years you say?), then go for it.for my opinion, just get something else around the 10k and below. and once you pay that off, then sell that and slowly upgrade.
