Should I do it?
hey i rely on accident money, bent my fender and i got 900$ worth of gas money seeing how the mods I want on the S all cost upwards of 2k.. lol
I don't think you should get it atleast not yet. I shouldn't be talking cause I'm only 19 and own an s2000 but I sure as he'll didn't come across it for 12k plus I had it payed off from day one cause I worked my *** off and lived like a poor kid and wasnt like a normal teenager cause I was so dedicated to get the car of my dreams. And it was all worth it I fucckin love this car. Anyways if I was you I would hold off for acouple years work hard and save every penny. Then buy an s2000 cause you would actually be able to afford it.
Take it from me...DONT DO IT. I was 17 when i bought my s, its been a year and i have been pinching pennies like a jew ever since.

back to subject, to the OP, you should stay with your civic and just live comfortably. if you feel you must sell your car then go with a integra or something.

seriously man live like a teenager... be stupid and do dumb things and i say that in a good way... i still wish i could do dumb things and get away with it... the car will always be there, your youth wont... and honestly you dont make enough to do simple maintenance to the car, put gas in it and enjoy it to the fullest... plus if something goes wrong, you aint got the $$$ to fix it
i tried to be as nice as possible... be grateful for that

My vacation ends March 3rd. My school system gives me 2 months off for winter and 2 months off for summer.
Thanks for the advice guys. Ima call up the insurance company today and find out how much it'll be. Thanks for giving me a perspective though, really appreciate that. Also already have a gf and shes the one that buys me stuff
The thing is we live 120 miles away so i don't really spend time with her so i hardly spend money on her.
Heres a link to my school if you dont believe me.

leave the kid alone graffiti lolz..but yea youre 17 yrs old in an S?..hmm i dunno. you'll have car payments and a high insurance rate youre looking at..at least 600 a month may more..also youre an unexperienced driver youre just not gonna be ready for that car yet..id wait a few more years if i were you..but im not. goodluck kid. just lookin out.
Had my license for a year exactly so idk if thats gonna help the rates. Car payments i dont gotta worry about. My mom said shes gonna pay it off. The only thing im worried about is her getting mad over a high insurance rate.
Also i cant keep my current car. Like i said my moms making me get a new one. So i was just looking over my choices. My brothers xb cost more than how much my s2000 will. Ima call the insurance company in a bit to find out how much.
600 a month is kinda steep. =/

i fail to see how buying him an s2000 is giving him a better life than his mom though....a better life than she had would be having quality NECESSITIES...he already has a car, so having the s2000 is a luxury, not a necessity

i agree... i just lost complete respect for the OP
if your not paying for it...then get it i guess. I mean having your mom buy you a car isnt going to help you when you become financially responsible, and you wont learn the value of money until its too late. Your life will be better for a short time... and then reality will hit you.
Honestly i dont want you to get an s2k, just because i know you wont appreciate it as much as you would if you payed for it. I have put sweat and tears into my s2k and i could never give my car up even though it has put me through hell

I was your same age when i got my s. I got it a week before highschool was over. I kept it for a little more than a year and sold it. It really wasn't worth the effort it was taking to keep it.
A year and a half ago..s2000's were so much more expensive than they are now. I wish i could have waited a year. I'll have one again sometime.

Graf- Good come back with the dollar menu thing. That was good not gonna lie. Anyways i see where your coming from. Being a luxury and all.
Insurance came out to about 2000 extra a year. thats 1000+ every 6 months and 166+ a month. Not bad considering you guys were saying 300+. Full coverage btw. I can get his number if you guys feel like switching over cause some of your guys insurance quotes are high! My mom says thats alot still since we pay 1900 every 6 months for the following:
03 4runner full coverage
06 xb full
93 civic liability
b-seriuz, whats a mrs? mr2? if so no thanks. I was thinking about a newer civic. Maybe a 01 si or something. Idk we'll see after my car gets sold. Im out of this thread. Ill keep you guys updated if i get the s2000 of if something else.

Reddot- I know what you mean about letting your s2k go. I paid for everything on my civic by myself. The turbo the wheels seats. Its so hard to sell it right now. Im having second thoughts. It was my first car and idk feels like ima be incomplete without it.
Thanks for all the experiences guys. Its giving me another thing to consider.
B-seriuz, you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your accomplishments?!?! right? that was my essay question on the SAT too. haha
Anyways tahnsk again guys for the info. Ill keep you guys updated on what happens, even though half of you may not give two s#!+s about it. =]

Under my brothers insurance plan. Car's gonna be on mine and his name if anything. Its a family plan thing so all the cars have to be atleast co=signed with him to get the plan.
if your mom is going to pay for everything and all your gona do is chip in what you got which is pretty much jack **** then get the s2000 lets hope you dont crash it cause you prolly will.
If you only have $4000, you should NOT be shopping for an S2000. That is such a stretch and making only $120 a week, you will have no money left over for anything else as all of your money will go towards insurance, car payments, maintenance, gas, etc.
I have about $20k to buy an S2000 right now (Yes, I'm only 18, but work full time making about $4k/month), and technically I could do the same thing as you and stretch to buy a high mileage 1991 NSX, but it would be totally unwise.
Instead, I'm going to be putting a large sum down and pick up an AP2 and quickly pay it off after a few months. That way, I have money left over for other things + I can continue to put away half of my paychecks into my savings account.
Edit: I just saw that your parents are going to pay for it. Well good luck with a $12,000 S2000. I've considered a couple but they were all high mileage, burning oil, driven hard, 5th owner, with yellow rear plastic windows, paint chips, dents/dings, etc. There are so many reason not to buy a cheap S2000. It's a performance car and likely was driven as one.
