i have a 97 prelude.. the vtec engagment is around 5200 and i want to bring it up somewhere around 3500.. how do i adjust this without messing everything up?!?!?!

why drop it to 3500? whats wrong with the stock vtec engagement?

That is too low to bring it in on a stock setup. I had mine set to 4800 and it seemed a little better but I wasn't stock either. Look into a vtec controller or a vafc by apexi. It will let you adjust it. Or look into getting a obd1 ecu and talk to a shop about tuning it for you since you really don't understand tuning. Do more research.

I just didn't know what all to get for it parts wise.. and nothings wrong with it, just want it to engage sooner.

why do you want it to engage sooner? what mods do you have? vtec is set at a certain point for a reason. dont go playing with things you dont understand.

I am thinking he meant to type 5300. There is no real way to adjust vtec with out directly changing your ecu or if you have an adjustable tune.
