stupid me mishift today, i think i bend a valve, how can u tell?

i would be willing to bet he didnt get over 7300 rpm....im assuming hes on a stock computer, which has a fuel cut at 7400, and the stock tach will look like 7.8-8k rpm when the motor is actually only turning about 7200-7400
i believe honda did this on purpose....

There isn't any power up high, but there is even less down low if you shift at or before redline, especially with the big gaps between the lower gears.
And yeah, stock tachs are going to read pretty high. I don't see my 7500rpm CEL shiftlight until an indicated 7900...

you dropped a valve in #3 i'd say, and that will expletive your piston. How long did you stay in 2nd before getting it out? Those are upsetting #'s. Good time to upgrade tho. There are many performance valvetrains that are close to OE prices.

Re: stupid me mishift today, i think i bend a valve, how can u tell? (limpmode)
ok guys, good news. just took out the head. found out that all intake valve are bend. no crack on block or head. just bend valve. intake valve left some mark on the piston haha(pix below). I'm planning to just give this block and head to my friend and take his h22 motor and give him 600 buck. you guy think it a good deal? his motor is a h22a4(97 honda prelude) with 125 K on it. it was originally my old motor till i sell it to him, but he never got a chance to install it. when i had it, it run good and i didn't really abused it since it was automatic back then. only problem is the oil pan gasket is leaking, need to replace that. he going to take my motor and going fully build. rebuild the whole block and head so he can make his 600 HP h22a turbo prelude. i don't think ill be able to rebuild my head since it too expensive, i think it cost like 2600 to rebuild it including labors. i'm just going to slap on a turbo on the h22a4 if i get it.
here some pix of my friend and me working hard. the coolant not suppose to be in the piston, it got there when we lifted the head and accident spill some on it haha.
see the mark that the valve left on the piston?

Well, those pistons look like they are high compression so if they are not damaged then it seems like you could just put new valves in it and put it back together. The H22A4 will have lower compression.

nah they are JDM h22 oversized piston with a 10:6 compression. USDM h22 is only 10:0 compression

might as well get your other motor back. you will want to come down from that 10.6 for turbo anyway

You won't need that header for a turbo setup. You can give it to me if you like...
