the only way to tell is by doing a compression test. But if it shut down immediately after misshifting like that, theres a good chance you fubar'd it.

A compression test won't do **** but tell you that you're losing compression.
A leak down test will set you free - listen to find out if its coming through the valves. Remove your intake to see if air is coming back through there.

if the compression is ok go get your valves adjusted cause a misshift like that, especially in higher rpms, will mess the **** out of your valve clearences. Trust me

true but the findings will indicate whether the head needs to come off or not, if it does, it will be obvious then....

How fast were you going when you misshifted?

Given your circumstances i would say you have more like a 98% chance of bent valves.
Do a comp check first, then a leakdown. If comp #'s check out ok (which i bet you $$ they will not) then a leakdown is not really necessary.

Re: (vietdragontekx)
holy messed up head batman. How fast were u going when u shifted? were u redlined in 3rd and then down shifted? I remember once I was in 5th at like 60 and dropped it into 2nd instead of 4th, rpms jumped up, but i threw it in neutral pretty damn fast. There was a little valve chatter, post misshift, but nothing life threatening. I got off easy

Damn you rev'ed that really high, that was your first mistake imho. Most H22's will peak at ~7200rpms.
