Default Screen in Dash!

I think i might have seen it on this site. Not sure though. The reason i didnt put this in the appearance section is because this is geared towards preludes and more specifically 4th gen's

Has anyone seen someone put a screen in one of these 2 yellow squares?
If so, how did you do it and what size screen and stuff did you use?
Thanks!

Yup, I've seen one or two people put a TV screen at the yellow square closest to the driver. You can push down the instrument guage and clock.

It's a pretty cool idea.

I remember seeing a write up on HPOA.org a couple of years ago, try a search there.

I'm pretty sure it involves shortening the end of the dash near your clock and moving the whole thing over to fit the Tv.

EDIT: heres one thread http://www.hpoa.org/showthread.php?t=9356

2nd EDIT Heres a Write Up http://www.hpoa.org/showthread.php?t=21728

not to hard of a job, you just need to find a good installer... anyone who knows what they are talking about with audio installs can do this custom job.

Post this question on HPOA. Someone posted pictures a while ago, but they lost a few months worth of threads recently due to tech snafu.

One of the moderators loves an excuse to put up pictures of his car and has done this. I'm sure you can get pics of its over there easily.

go look through the "prelude pictures" thread. somewhere in there there should be a picture of a right side drive with a screen in that area next to the steering wheel.

my guesstimate would be 4 inches...
i wonder if there could be a widescreen 5.6 inch that i would fit in there!

Hey EF93SI, can you get us any links and pics?

I've always heard a 5.6" screen fit best, but I got a 4" screen I will be tossing in *one day*.

Hey dude, did you have to do any cutting to get it like that? and how abou tthe smoked glass? and did you take the borders off the screen to get it to fit so well?

So your saying the 5 inch screen and the 7 inch widescreen are the exact same height?

im getting ready to do this so i kinda need all the info i can get!

Here is mine. I didnt want to go through all the crap of moving the instrument cluster...since there is a much easier way.

Mine is a 5.6 widescreen sunvisor screen. There is a very very simple way to do this mod though.

Basically all you do is seperate the smoked plastic from the black plastic part and buy a screen (i have seen 7" fit) with a seperate stand. Just secure the stand, position it so the whole thing is visible and you are good to go.

Since mine is a sunvisor screen I had to get creative. In this area there is a little box (I have no idea what it does) being held in by a huge plastic peice. I just moved the little box, and cut up the plastic peice to hold my monitor with the cover plate for the sunvisor mount flipped around holding the monitor. I just superglued the screw tabs to the shroud and it was done. Took about 8 hours but wouldnt take too long if you buy a screen with a mounting stand.

p.s. i cant post pics
