Default Overheating problem

The temp gauge has been going above normal but the fan doesn't come on. It usually only happened at idle and goes back to normal when i start to drive again but now it just went above normal while I was driving. I jumped the fan and I know that works. What else should I check?

Where did you jump the fan? It could be either the fan switch or fan relay if you know the fan itself is working.

I am having the exact same problem with mine, but i have also noticed when im sitting in traffic and my car is over heating i can put it in neutral and give it about 4 rpms it will cool down. I am going to change my thermostat and add some coolant today and see what happens. If anyone else has any other suggestions please let me know.

My radiator is also rotting out, its 5 years old so that might have something to do with it. I just bought a godspeed aluminum radiator on ebay so after i get it I'm going to put that in and also change the fan switch and thermostat and see what happens.

when i also go slow in traffic it over heats. like under 20mph It has a new thermostat, but my fan is not kickin on util after i shut my kar off. which is probably the fan switch, and also my radiator hose on the top of the radiator to the block swells up like a son of a bitch. and i just switched out the coolant. thinkin just bout puttin a new radiator in.

u guys are all having the same problem...its the fan switch that sits in the thermostat housing. If u jump that plug and the fans come on then its most likely the switch. I tested my car one day and saw that the fans usually come on like every 2 min. at idle.
