HELP!! temp. guage gets to 3/4 before fan comes on!!!!
my car gets hot at idle only! when i am cruising it is perfectly fine. i jumped my fan while it was idling and the temp stayed at half but when i let the fan run off of the stock temp. switch it gets to 3/4 then comes on! it has a new temp. switch, thermostat, fluidyne radiator, no leaks, headgasket is fine, fan relay works, fan works, fan blows air the right way, new 16lb. radiator cap, and it has been burped and bled many times. i switched everything out and it still happens. its really pissing me off.
p.s. i searched and found similar topics but no cures for the problem were posted.

you sure you replace the correct CTS, one is for the fan the other is for the gauge. unplug the one you replaced and see if the gauge works, if not, you replaced the wrong one. if thats not the problem i dont have a clue.

here's what the service manual says:
Engine Coolant Temperature
Problem verification:
1. Start the engine. Hotd the
engine at 3,000 rpm with no
load (in Park or neutral) until
the radiator fan comes on,
then let it idle.
2. With the scan tool, check the ETC
is 176-200'F {80 - 93'C)or
0.4-0.7 V indicated?
Yes?
Intermiftent failure. system is OK
at this time. Check the thcrmostat
and thc cooling system.
No?
Check the thermostat and the
cooling system. ll they als OK,
replace the ECT sensor.
Not because you already change a part, is 100% sure that it'll work it may be defective, if i where in your shoes, i'll start by plugin some external temp gauge to find out more exactly at what temp the fan is starting, if is actually wrong, then i'll find out if the ETC sensor have the rigth Voltage and go from there...
