how bad is this? (pics)
So... check this out
I pull my valve cover off to replace a broken stud from over tightening a valve cover nut. anyway.......I see this
see where those 2 studs are loose at? should I be worried that they vibrated loose over a few thousand miles? or should I just tighten them up and don't worry about it?
Thanks a lot
(it's the two 10mm bolts nearest the cam gears)

i would figure if its just those two loose, someone forgot to tighten them.
if a few more were loose.......i would worry a little more.
basically just torque them down (obviously you didn't do that with the vavle cover nut, lesson learned ) and check it in a few weeks/days.
see if anything comes up

Maybe pull the bolts out and inspect them and if they're good, just torque them back down to factory specs. That's all you should have to do...

I usually go till i feel a fair amount of resistance. And if it leaks u just tighten it alittle more its not like its not an accessable area. Better safe than sorry but hey going by the factory spec will always be your best bet with pretty much anything on the car.

Re: (lude98SH)
if you messed the threads on the bolts up, it would be on the first 4 or 5 threads coming down from the head. if they're OK then just retorque them.

Re: (bluedlude)
by using a tq wrench on those 10mm bolts there is a good chance they will break before the proper tq is reached on the wrench. your better off tightening those by hand. use a 1/4" wratchet in the palm of your hand only and tighten as much as you can. that will give you around 10 ft lbs.

Yes it doesnt take much force to make it tight enough not to leak.

Re: (lude98SH)
yep everything is cool now.... Thanks for the help guys, I just used a 3/8" and turned it with the palm of my hand.... None of the threads were messed up. Now where the stud went through the valve cover, the washer was missing because i broke the stud and oil was obviously shooting out and hitting my hood. Would having that washer off cause an adverse effect to power? because it feels better now.

i've taken the valve cover off both my engines plenty...
