Dumping Fuel
Hey guys,
Looking for some advice for my fuel / spark system.
H23 block h22 vtec head
Bore 30 over
Stock fuel pump and injectors and rail
Reg NGK plugs
Stock wires, cap and rotor
The Problem: At start up a good amount of black smoke out the exhaust, after it is at operating temp, black smoke will pour out over 4200 rpm.
What i dont understand is if it is dumping to much fuel, or is it not burning all the fuel in the camber?
Is the fuel regulator adjustable? Or do they make an adujustable one?
Do I need to upgrade my plugs, wires, coil?
Sugguestions Please and Thank You!

What computer are you using on this setup?
Honestly the first thing would be to get it tested with a wideband 02 sensor, and see how rich/ lean it actually is. But when doing that, might as well get it tuned, which would involve a chipped ecu or programmable ecu system.

I am using a stock h22 5 speed ecu. I contact the guys at TPG tuning (local tuning shop) and they said they could probably help out with the use of chrome? I'm meeting with them on Tuesday and see what comes of it.
Thanks

What stock ECU are you using? You issue IMO is related to the stock ecu not being able to adjsut itself for your setup, as your current setup will require some serious tuning to make it run well.
i would be looking into that before anything.

if fuel pressure is good, I would start to look into the o2 sensor. because if it's really running that deathly rich, it should be maxing out the fuel trims to full negative and throwing a cel and trouble code. but you said there are no codes. so something must be up with the o2 sensor not registering properly.
stupid question, but the o2 sensor is currently in the exhaust BEFORE the cat, right?
and are you absolutely sure the ecu you're using is completely stock, virgin, not chipped, not modified in any way shape or form?
