Default Cheap compression???

I have an H22 head with damage to rocker arms and valves in my car right now. I recently purchased another H22 head to slap on to my running car and Iam going to build up the old one. (P/P ,cams, valvetrain...) before I put my new head on I wanted to see if I can get a cheap compression bump in the form of milling the head??? No money to do it properly right now(i.e pistons) so I wanted to get it milled down a bit to raise the compress. level. I have a USDM motor with 10:1 right now and just wanted to get it up to 10.5 or even 11:1. How much should I have shaved off??

go to http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php and plug in the info and then play with the head gasket thickness to see what you get.

Or try this:

Thanx for the 10 or so threads Pirate. A little overwhelming but I think I got it. So I can have the head shaved about .030" for a nice bump of about 10.7 and not have to worry about piston to valve clearance or HG issues correct???

I would suggest flat valves and a thinner head gasket. Milling the head is too permanent & if you mill it .030" it doesn't leave you any room for additional milling if you need to mill it due to warpage, etc.

Cometic is the brand, they have several thicknesses available. Just do a search online for Cometic dealers. There's also an H-T sponsor or two that sell them.
