The Z6 pulls harder than a Y5 because of the transmission, the cam, and the intake manifold. To make the most of a Y5 you need to get the EX tranny, the EX manifold, as well as a custom agressive cam made. The point is that Y5's have more POTENTIAL than the Z6, but stock for stock they are far less superior.

I agree with the above and also want to add that the Z6 head is actually one of the best designed heads for port flow capability due to the straight pathed design of the ports.

The 96+ D series heads have a large handicap.

HOWEVER, if you are already a Y5 powered car, stick with the Y5 and get the gearing! You'll love it.

That and the I/H/E.....Y5's love that.

If you haven't bought anything yet, you might as well start with the Z6 head unless you forsee running a rediculously aggressive (and unstreetable) cam.

Since you already have a Y5 though and plan to turbocharge, might as well keep he Y5 head for now and save your money for later.

What I would do is (Spade correct me if I need to be) get the EX Intake manifold and the EX ECU w/ a VTEC controller...getting rid of the EGR valve altogether. Set the VTEC as low as possible with the VAFC (I believe lowest is 3000).

Correct. The EGR needs to be there.

Unless you want to take on a project such as new ECU (p2p) and o2 wiring and cam to basically turn the engine into a performance engine instead of an efficiency engine.

Even then you are spending a lot of money.

Yes, you can do that. However, the seconardy O2 has been a bitch in the past, for others who have done the HX to Y8 swap.

You do want a custom cam though....but then if your going to go with a Turbo in the furture.....
