it is a 13 year old motor. but you can take it past 6. Hondas are pretty though.. unless you want to baby it then keep it low, but i dont see you blowing it. not like your running 30 psi on your stock motor. you catch me drift?

Problem with your bottom end that it wasnt made for the high rpm's of the vtec head. My only concern would be rod bolts

D15B7s redline at around 6300 RPM and D16Z6s at about 7200 (this based on the OEM tachometer redline) D15B7s/B8s have weaker rods and crank than the Z6. At the end of the day maybe it'll take being reved to 7 grand for years, maybe it'll blow up tommorrow, I can't make any guarentees either way. Although I probably wouldn't be scared to take it up to 6500 or so.

no you are going to need it to be chipped because your timing and a/f's are going to be off, different injectors or 240's? and the ecu is? stock z6 heads are good for 7k + USUALLY. hell dr. D-series is rocking his stock y7 head to 8k with 20 or so lbs of boost on a big h1c.

Re: will i blow my motor? (supercoy101)
alot of people will say you can run it high rpm all day long BUT TYPICALY those people are (at least in my opinion FOOLISH)
every motor is different. all depends how good of condition the motor is in...
but reving a motor up that high alot is just unnecessary IMO!
hell i rarely get my RPMs up past 4 most the time with my manual... tho my automatic i typicaly dont go over 6K with it.
keeping your rpms low doesnt just help the motor. it will give ya better milage as well and alot more years of use! plus for daily driving... lower rpms means slower speed which =s less speeding tickets- cheaper insurance.....
plus think of it this way.... they can tell you it will take it all day long BUT if you try it and she blows... your the one stuck with the busted car with the expensive repair bill! not them!!!!!!!!
if you push the motor to its limits... dont be suprised when she lets go and your stuck on the phone to tripple A for a tow truck!

Elaborate on "blow my motor". There are several ways to destroy an engine. The catastrophic way is to throw a rod right through the block, making it so you have to trash the block completely. You can also blow the head gasket, float a valve, spin a bearing, and burn a ring. I beat the hell out of my D15B7 from when I got it at 151,000-173,000 miles until I destroyed a ring. I puffed oil for a few months then swapped. The car ran perfectly fine even after I dominated the ring. Just be prepared for the consequences after some time passes.
