Why not use obd2 for b20z swap?
Sorry if this has been brought up I did my fair share of searching and couldn't find anything on b20z swaps and keeping OBD2.
I have a '00 ex with the y8 still in it. I'm interested in finding a b20z to swap in, and was wondering if there is any major issues with just keeping it obd2 and using the ecu from the CRV. Would the ex harness work fine?
I'll go ahead and state my power goals before people start jumping on me about ecu mods and whatnot.
It's a daily driver, I just want a bit more torque around town and it seems swapping to a b20 would be more economical than building on to my d16 and I would like to avoid FI. FURTHERMORE I think it would be fun to do a swap...I've done tons of audio/video/interior work but as far as engine work I've only done small bolt-ons and replaced a transmission with a friend. I'm not looking for crazy gains so I don't think I will ever be chipping my ecu or anything.
If I missed something obvious, please point me in the right direction...no HT god complex hating necessary.

There isnt any problems that im aware of, a lot of people keep their swaps obd2 for emissons reasons.
The car is OBD2b, so as long as the crv is OBD2b i dont see why it wouldnt work.

Yeah, the B20B has a huge intake mani. The bB20Z has a weird flat one.
Both cars are OBD2B (the B20Z came on 99+ CRVs) so it should work pretty well, I'm pretty sure your harness will work.

The swap will work great running obd2B. The ecu will plug right in and run just fine. So, you will need an Integra Hydro tranny, axles, shift linkage, and a 99-001 Civic Si rear t bracket, and a b series rad for the larger rad hoses and twin core setup for better cooling
The only custom thing i would buy if i was you, would be a header, any b series, then see a muffler shop to have the mid pipe lengthened properly....you will be set!!!!!
Here was mine from a couple summers ago.......

Re: Why not use obd2 for b20z swap?
AWESOME! Exactly what i needed...thanks for all the input guys...
Would shift linkage from an 00 SI work? or does it need to be teg? Would I have to have the double bend teg shifter if I do that?
I planned on getting a custom exhaust done with one of the mugen twin loop replicas so I imagine I'll just wait till I do the swap for that.
How much did you pay for you Z deetz? No power steering or AC issues or anything?
